Deaf Awareness Week 2020

4 – 10th May 2020 – ‘acquired deafness’

#DAW2020

Deaf Awareness Week is a unique campaign in that so many different organisations participate, each able to promote their own work within the broad spectrum of deafness.

It is a fine example of so many organisations collaborating and working together in a joint campaign.

DAW 2020 focus was around recognising and celebrating those with acquired deafness but we know in light of everything going on that we will through an online campaign engage with our members and encourage them to celebrate Deafness, raise awareness of best practice and use the week for demonstrating change and positivity

About

The UK Council on Deafness, founded in 1993 and the national umbrella organisation for charities and professional bodies working in the field of deafness, co-ordinates deaf awareness week which involves UK wide series of national and local events to raise awareness of the needs of the 1 in 6 deaf or hard of hearing people in the UK.   Deaf Awareness Week aims to promote the positive aspects of deafness, promote social inclusion and raise awareness of the huge range of local organisations that support deaf people and their family and friends.

A new range of posters are available on our publicity page to download and add details of your event(s) for the week.
