STAGETEXT is a registered charity established in May 2000 by three deaf people who are keen to improve access to the theatre. STAGETEXT provides captioning services. The text is displayed as the actors speak/sing, enabling people with a hearing loss to understand fully. Additionally, captioning aids understanding of regional accents, is useful to students of the text and can improve reading skills. STAGETEXT also provides training to theatres wishing to carry out in-house captioning.
