Deafblind UK supports thousands of deafblind people who can take full advantage
of our extensive range of services.
Many of these services help to relieve the loneliness and isolation felt by deafblind people - including regular communications, a varied social events programme and a 24-hour free helpline, accessible on 0800 132320.
Deafblind people need access to specialist support services to enable them to live as independently as possible. These one-to-one support services include interpreters to give communication support and communicator-guides to enable deafblind people in their daily lives.
Deafblind UK offers specialist rehabilitation services to help those who become deafblind in later life to acquire new skills for daily living and mobility. The National Training and Rehabilitation Centre at Rainbow Court has facilities available for most rehabilitation programmes, including a specially adapted flat.
The recent introduction of Section 7 guidance to local authorities by the Department of Health requires that these authorities actively seek out and identify deafblind people and take responsibility for providing support services. Deafblind UK now offers contracted services to local authorities to enable them to meet their obligations under Section 7 guidance.
Deafblind UK offers a wide range of training courses on deafblind awareness and communication skills for professional accreditation.
