Action for Deafness (AFD) will be arranging the following events during DAW.

• Tabletop display at Haywards Heath Resource Centre – including Communication Support (STTR and BSL) demonstrations.
• Tabletop display at Worthing Resource Centre – including Communication Support (STTR and BSL) demonstrations.
• Raffles at Haywards Heath and Worthing Resource Centres
• Exhibitions at all AFD clinics being held during DAW (Hassocks, Henfield, East Grinstead and Steyning)
• Exhibitions at local GP surgeries and local libraries
• Deaf Awareness talks at Hazelwick School. To include two afternoon sessions with students and a visit by a volunteer with a hearing dog.
• Very basic finger spelling sessions at Worthing Resource Centre, during the entire week.
• Info packs to be sent to local schools prior DAW asking the schools to have a brief discussion with the students about deaf awareness during DAW.

ABC Hearing Care Centre

To show our support for Deaf Awareness Week and people with hearing problems we are pleased to be holding four Hearing Information days.

The aim of these events is to promote hearing and hearing loss and provide information and help with hearing aids, tinnitus and other hearing problems. We will also be carrying out a free hearing aid clean and check service on the day as well refreshments and a tombola in support of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

Exhibitors include, RNID, Hearing Link, Deaf Action, Phonak, Unitron, Starkey, Hearing Dogs and ABC Hearing.

The Suffolk Deaf Association

We would like to invite you to drop in for a cup of coffee or tea on any day between Tuesday 3rd May and Friday 6th May (between 10.00am and 12 noon each day).  We are at Suffolk House – on the corner at the junction between Dales Road and Wharfedale Road.

You do not have to be deaf or hard-of-hearing to visit us! You might, however, hear or see something that could be of interest to someone else who has some degree of hearing loss.

What is Deaf Awareness Week?
All organisations working with deaf people anywhere in the UK are holding ‘open house’ events so that anyone can come and see and better understand how deaf, deafened, deaf-blind and hard of hearing people can acquire better communication skills through:
