DEAF AWARENESS WEEK in SCOTLAND

Darroch Hearing Centres offer free, no-obligation hearing assessments to anyone who wants to have their hearing checked during Deaf Awareness Week – Monday 4 th to Sunday 10 th May 2009.

By booking an appointment, you can have your ears examined, your hearing tested and can talk to a hearing aid audiologist about any concerns you have about your hearing. Existing hearing aid users can have their hearing aids cleaned and checked free of charge.

In addition, new and existing clients can find out all about Starkey hearing instruments, from a Starkey audiologist who will be in attendance during the week-long event. In particular, visitors to their local centre will have their first opportunity to find out about Starkey’s latest S Series hearing system – new hearing aids that promise higher fidelity and smart behaviour in different audio situations. Featuring parallel multi-threading processors, the system can calculate specialized algorithms to a greater degree of precision, leading to better sound quality.

“Hearing loss is a very personal thing and I treat it as seriously as you do. To support Deaf Awareness Week I will offer a free hearing assessment,” says Paul Darroch, hearing aid audiologist and owner of Darroch Hearing Centres. “This is a thorough, professional examination, and takes around 30 to 40 minutes. Of course, there is no obligation or commitment to purchase a hearing aid.”

However, everyone deciding to try hearing instruments has a free 4-week evaluation period before payment, ensuring their satisfaction with the system. Additionally, anyone who purchases any Starkey hearing instrument will receive 20% off the normal list price during Deaf Awareness Week.

Darroch Hearing Centres welcome referrals from ENT Consultants, General Practitioners and other healthcare workers, as well as charities, employers and special needs groups. “I would particularly encourage anyone employing staff who work in noise to contact me, to get advice on how to comply with the current HSE regulations,” states Paul.
