CDA is an association of Deaf and Hearing people who support each other and promote services for Deaf people within the community. At diocesan level activities include the following; creating awareness among bishops and diocesan communities of the needs and rights of Deaf people; working with dioceses to establish services with appropriately qualified personnel; supporting existing diocesan services; promoting working partnerships with other agencies. At national level activities include the following; providing support groups; organising events and programmes (including pilgrimages, annual retreats, courses and social events); establishing working committees (including the National Council, Editorial Committee for the national magazine Outreach).
