Communication Support Agencies - give your views

A steering group has produced new guidelines for communication support agencies. Last year, the CACDP decided to stop registering agencies who provide BSL Interpreters, Lipspeakers and other forms of communication support. An Agency Steering Group (ASG) was set up in January 2004 to devise minimum standards for agencies to follow. The standards are a temporary measure and it is hoped that a formal regulatory body will be established to make sure agencies provide good quality services. The ASG is asking for your views on the new standards. The consultation will run from 23rd August until 1 October 2004. You can get a copy of the proposed minimum standards on the UK Council on Deafness website at www.deafcouncil.org.uk/asg.htm .
